Geneseo, N.Y. -- The 23rd-ranked men's lacrosse team fell to 3-2 on the season after dropping a 16-6 decision at 12th-ranked Geneseo. Sophomore Mike Nowak (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) scored a career-high three goals.

 

The Blue Knights (3-1) held a 3-0 lead heading into the final minute of the first quarter before Ithaca answered with a pair of goals in the final minute to close to within one goal at 3-2. Freshman Mike Giunta (B. Reed Henderson/West Chester, Pa.) scored his third goal of the season at 0:38 and Nowak scored his first goal of the contest with just three seconds remaining in the opening frame.

 

Geneseo then outscored the Bombers 6-1 in the second quarter to take a 9-3 lead into halftime and secure the win.

 

Junior Dennis Butler (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) made 17 saves in 46:18.

 

Ithaca will next host Rensselaer on March 29 at 4 p.m. at Upper Terrace Field.
